Intermediate iTiL Educators (1 – 2 years) iLearn (8 hours each) iLearn professional development is designed to enable a teacher who has access to a projector and classroom set of internet-ready computers to enhance teaching and learning using 21st Century tools. Curriculum Integration Teams made up of teachers, coaches, instructional specialists, leaders, etc. have created eight hours of professional development that supports teachers in infusing technology in literacy, science, social studies and math to enhance instruction. An overview of each content area is below.
Math - Participants discover how to enhance math instruction with tools and resources such as Geometer’s Sketchpad, wikis, SmartBoards, Excel, and virtual manipulatives.
Science - Participants discover how to enhance science instruction with tools and resources such as Google Earth, Excel, PowerPoint, PageKeeper, WebQuests, online video, Google Collaborative Docs and classroom blogs.
Social Studies - Participants discover how to enhance social studies instruction with tools and resources such as digital documentaries, online research tools, blogs, and PowerPoint brochures.
Literacy - Participants discover how to enhance literacy instruction with tools and resources such as electronic writer’s notebooks, authentic online publishing, online websites and tools to find leveled resources, blogs, Inspiration and hidden features in Word.
Get Going with Software (8 hours each) Participants can begin using common Microsoft applications to enhance their work. Participants learn to use the following applications specifically to enhance their work as an educator:
Word
Excel
PowerPoint
Publisher
Google Apps
OneNote
Outlook Web Access (OWA)
Advanced iTiL Educators (2 or more years) iCreate (8 hours) iCreate professional development is designed to enable teachers to create their own technology-enriched lessons. iCreate professional development guides teachers through the process of incorporating the new technologies they use in iLearn into the lessons they are creating and delivering to their students.
